In a galaxy far, far away... Actually, not that far since it is right here at home; we are celebrating the release of 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' this Holiday Season. If you love the craftiness that comes with making the Holidays extra special, and you are also a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, check out our lil' Star Wars themed Christmas Tree, courtesy of our friends at Allied Contigo and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Let me begin by thanking Allied Contigo, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, for the cool movie merchandise, and all the items needed to create a Star Wars themed Christmas Tree. With that being said, let me show you how a little DIY, combined with the love and excitement for Star Wars goes a long way. For the most part, this amazing Star Wars Felt kit that was sent to us, comes with pretty much everything you need to create some of your favorite characters from the franchise.


With the patterns indicating the right color for each piece, needle, thread, stuffing, and an instruction booklet, it wasn't that hard to get going. It truly brought some childhood memories back, since making felt figurines to decorate the Christmas Tree was something that my grandmother passed to my mother, and then to me. Thus becoming something that I will definitely pass on to the newer generation in our family.


I used a white fabric pencil to trace on the darker felt, and a normal pencil for the lighter colors. The closer you place each pattern, the more you will have left over, which will allow you to create even more characters. Darth Vader is one of my favorite characters, but shhh--don't tell anyone: they'll think I've gone to the dark side.


You don't need any special skills to sew felt pieces together. The booklet pretty much tells you how to do the stitching, and honestly, it is more of a fun gathering to create something together, rather than making a masterpiece. Can you guess what character I was working on in the photo above?


If you said an 'Ewok', you were right! I grew up with these characters in cartoons. They are super adorable, and I love them. I remember one of my older cousins had an original licensed 'Ewok' stuffed doll, from when the movie came out in theaters. I must confess I really wanted to take it home with me, jaja. Nonetheless, now I have my own mini version thanks to this fun kit. After that, I was ready to start with another of my favorite characters; Chewbacca, grrrrrr. If I could choose to be, any character ever in the Star Wars franchise, I think I would like to be Chewy. He's pretty cool, and he gets to be Han Solo's best friend.


After having a few 'Rebels', ehem, I mean--characters sewn up, I decided to decorate some of the Christmas Tree ornaments with the temporary tattoos that I also got from our friends at Allied Contigo, check it out.


It is as easy as following the instructions. Cut your selected Star Wars: The Last Jedi tattoo, making sure that what you've selected fits the size of your ornament. Place it over the ornament as you would on your skin, get it wet, and gently peel it off. You will end up with something like in the photo below. Then carefully clean it up and you are done.



Now the finishing touch was to add the lights, because what is a Christmas Tree without lights? We  also got these awesome mini lights; they look like tiny light sabers.

There is no doubt that 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi', is one of the most awaited movies of the year, especially within our family. I believe part of the excitement is due to the action sequences involving lightsabers, which are a huge iconic part of the franchise. We just love the uncertainty of what is to happen in each duel, and how epic some of the dialogues becomes. Nonetheless, behind every epic battle scene, there are loads of hard work and discipline involved.

Disney•Pixar "Coco" se estrenó en México justo a tiempo para celebrar el Día de los Muertos el pasado 27 de Octubre del presente; llenando así, de magia, música, y coloridas tradiciones las salas de cine alrededor del país. Debo confesar que me ha dado un poco de envidia que la mayoría de mis amigos ya vieron la película, la cual se estrenará el 22 de Noviembre aquí en los Estados Unidos. Lo bueno es que el 22 ya se aproxima, y estoy súper emocionada de ver como los creadores de el filme integraron parte de nuestra cultura Mexicana, con un acontecimiento conmovedor para todos los que estamos bien conectados con nuestras raíces. I can't believe it is almost that time of the year already--it went so fast! Still, beyond excited for the next chapter in the Star Wars franchise with 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'. 

All hands hoay, for ocean, treasures, ships, and mysterious islands--that's right, Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is headed our way. In our opinion, a movie filled with fantastic adventures, very talented actors, and loads of laughter. Keep on reading to find out what we did for movie night, and for a chance to win a digital copy of your own, to enjoy at home.

Argh--okay, I admit it, I don't know how to talk like a pirate. Nonetheless, I do believe I know how to have fun like one. To celebrate the release of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, we created a treat inspired on a particular scene, which caught my eye from the beginning. (Warning, a bit of spoilers ahead). I instantly fell in love with the island 'no man could find', which was covered in 'stars' some translucent and some red, and I am sure that this feeling, was due to the fact that I like all things shiny. Who knows, maybe I was also a pirate in a previous life, argh! Anyhow, taking these concepts into consideration, here is what we came up with:

What you'll need:

• Blue Food Coloring: Preferably natural, however, you are free to use artificial if you so wish. If your natural food coloring looks more purple than blue, you can add a bit of baking soda, and due to the process of oxidation, it will start turning blue. Just be aware that it won't be as bright once all the ingredients are combined due to the chocolate ice cream's color.
• Transparent Root Beer: There is a particular brand that has no colorants in it, thus, making it transparent, and useful for this kind of projects. This brand also carries other flavors that are transparent too, just in case you prefer something rather than root beer.
• Chocolate Ice cream: This is to resemble the island, however, it is also an acquired taste. So if you prefer other flavors, life is all about experimenting and choosing your favorite. For the ice cream, we went with a particular brand that sells organic ice cream. But if you have a favorite, you can go ahead and use that one. After all, it is about treating yourself to something you will enjoy.
• Pomegranate seeds: We've discovered that these delicious jewels, go very well (in our opinion) with chocolate ice cream. It has become one of our new favorite ice cream garnishes. Give it a try and let us know what you think.
